Committee Guiding Statements
The GLR aims to provide equitable and accessible resources about music therapy to those interested in pursuing a career in the field.
- The GLR strives to create opportunities for building connections between music therapists/student music therapists with those exploring the field of music therapy
- Create a link between aspiring music therapists and institutions that offer music therapy programs. This includes offering guidance and supporting preparation.
The GLR strives to build relationships with various community partners.
- Exchanging resources, training, and professional development with various professions and community members to build a network that promotes collaboration, awareness, education, and access.
- Identify and build coalitions that foster both sustainability and growth to expand community access.
The GLR endeavors to empower music therapists within the region to utilize consistent resources for advocacy, educating and recruiting.
- Develop, gather and maintain accessible resources for use in outreach efforts across the region.
- Coordinate to have representation at relevant events identified by the GLR Outreach Committee
Meet Laurel Rosen-Weatherford
Laurel Rosen-Weatherford, MM, MT-BC is a board-certified music therapist with the Monroe County Intermediate School District. She completed her undergraduate degree in Music Education at Miami University and her Masters in Music Therapy at WMU. Laurel has presented various workshops on school music therapy and works as an adjunct professor at Lourdes University and University of Toledo teaching Introduction to Music Therapy for non-music majors. In addition, Laurel is involved in leadership with numerous professional and non-profit organizations, such as the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association and BeInstrumental.
